Volunteer Opportunity: Gardener
The Wisconsin Council of the Blind & Visually Impaired is looking for an individual or group with green thumbs to care for the garden spaces that decorate the outside of our building. This person(s) will have a great deal of freedom and we’re encouraging this volunteer or group to make the garden spaces their own. Some core responsibilities of the gardener(s) are:
- Plant installation, maintenance, and care of garden beds and green spaces
- Weeding every other week throughout the summer
- Watering when needed
- Tending to pest control
- NO MOWING!
This space would be a perfect project for someone who lives in the Marquette neighborhood with an extra hour a week to come and care for the garden beds. The gardener(s) can start tending to the space as soon as possible until the first frost, and has the opportunity to continue to be our gardener for years to come.
